Welcome from the Commodore

Thank you for taking the time to join us on the Bradwell Cruising Club website. Our unique little club hosts a season of events that we run for the members across the year; ranging from shore based events to long distance passages. What ever your vessel, journey, distance, we’ve got something for everyone.

The club was founded in 1990 by a group of cruisers, based in Bradwell Marina, River Blackwater, Essex. The social group wanted to take to the water together for fun, friendship and cruising. This is the key ethos of the club that is firmly sustained today as it was then. The vast majority of our members are Bradwell based, however we welcome cruisers from all over. We have members based in the Essex/Suffolk rivers as well as a few cruising further afield who we regularly keep in touch with via the wonders of technology. Members include those with motor boats, sailing yachts and also those without boats.

Each year our dedicated committee of members puts together a varied programme of events; on-the-water and shore-based. This means that the social ethos usually takes place every other weekend including off season, members also arrange impromptu events on the website to continue our fun adventures outside of the events programme. Every event is open to members and available to book through our members page of this website.
We pride ourselves in our low fee, fun and friendly club. We have a ‘virtual clubhouse’ – This website, with a member’s area for arranging the bookings, discussing events and share ideas. We host most events at different venue providers and enjoy our affiliation with the RYA wherever we are based. This way we keep our fees low and our festivities high!
New members are always welcome and there’s plenty to enjoy this coming season.
